New York, NY – Bill Hodges Gallery is pleased to participate in Expo Chicago, April 11 – 14, 2024. We will be exhibiting a selection of paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, collages, and sculptures by modern and contemporary Black artists. Each of these works exemplifies the creative ingenuity of some of the most talented and innovative creative minds of their respective generations. Artists such as Agustín Cárdenas (1927 – 2001), Norman Lewis (1909 – 1979), and Stanley Whitney (1946 – ) have heavily influenced the development of abstraction to this day, while artists such as Jacob Lawrence (1917 – 2000), Wifredo Lam (1902 – 1982), and Beauford Delaney (1901 – 1979) articulated central tenets of modernism and of twentieth-century sociopolitical thought through their figurative work.
